Full landscape renovation in West Newton, Pa

We completed a landscaping project in West Newton, PA for a homeowner who wanted a more inviting outdoor space. The work focused on clearing an overgrown area and rebuilding it with a cleaner, more finished look. D & L Landscaping and Exterior Cleaning handled every step from removal to planting so the space would be ready for enjoyment and easier maintenance.

Our crew started by removing unwanted shrubs and grinding out stumps. Removing the old growth made room for new plantings and allowed us to reshape the area. Because the space was overgrown, careful removal was important to prevent damage to nearby plants and hardscape features.

After clearing the vegetation, we removed all debris and graded the site to prepare for stone installation. Proper grading ensured water will drain away from planting areas and created a stable base for the decorative stone and border. We also prepared new garden beds, defining their edges and adjusting soil levels so plant roots will have the best start.

One of the visible features we installed was a sand stone border. The border gives the beds clean, crisp lines and helps separate planting areas from lawn or pathways. With the border in place, maintenance is easier and the landscape looks intentional and well organized.

Before adding decorative stone, we laid down professional-grade landscaping fabric across the prepared beds. This fabric reduces weed growth while still allowing water to pass through to the soil. The fabric plus the decorative stone creates a low-maintenance surface that looks neat and polished without constant upkeep.

We finished the visual transformation by placing decorative stone over the fabric. The stone provides a uniform look and helps protect the soil and root zones from erosion. Because the site was graded carefully first, the stone sits evenly and stays in place through normal weather conditions.

Planting was the final step. We installed 22 new shrubs, placed strategically to provide structure, balance, and season-long interest. The shrub layout fills the space without overcrowding, creating a layered effect that will mature over time and further enhance the curb appeal.

The overall result is a transformed outdoor area that is cleaner, more defined, and easier to maintain. The combination of stump and shrub removal, site grading, a sand stone border, landscaping fabric, decorative stone, and the new shrubs gives this space a refreshed look and a solid foundation for future growth.

D & L Landscaping and Exterior Cleaning completed this landscaping project in West Newton, PA with attention to detail, leaving the property ready for the homeowner to enjoy and maintain with less effort. If you want a similar update to an overgrown area, this project shows how targeted removal and thoughtful installation can make a big difference.
