Full yard renovation and stone border install in Munhall, Pa
D & L Landscaping and Exterior Cleaning completed a landscaping enhancement project in Munhall, PA, focused on stabilizing soil, improving planting areas, and cleaning up the yard. The work combined hardscape edging, groundcover preparation, pruning, weed control, and plant relocation to create a neater, more functional outdoor space for the homeowner.
Along the back fence we installed an 84-foot soil erosion barrier to protect the slope and reduce runoff. The barrier was placed continuously where erosion was most likely, which helps keep soil in place and prevents future washouts. Installing the barrier first created a firm edge to work from for the rest of the project.
Next, we added a stone border to define planting beds and separate turf from landscaped areas. The stone border gives a clean edge, helps contain mulch, and provides a visual transition between the lawn and the beds along the fence line.
Inside the beds we laid professional-grade landscaping paper before spreading bark mulch. The landscaping paper acts as a weed-suppressing layer while still allowing water and air to reach plant roots. Bark mulch was installed over the paper to retain moisture, reduce temperature swings in the soil, and create a finished look that improves the overall appearance of the yard.
We also pruned pines and trees to remove dead or overgrown branches and to improve the shape of the plants. Pruning was done with care to preserve plant health and to open up areas that were too dense, which will help light and air reach other plants in the beds.
Hostas that were in the way of the new border and mulch layout were carefully dug up and relocated to better positions within the landscaped area. Moving the hostas allowed us to maintain mature plants while accommodating the new bed configuration and erosion barrier.
To address existing weeds, a targeted herbicide application was applied where needed. The herbicide work was part of the overall bed preparation and was used to reduce weed pressure before the landscaping paper and mulch were added.
Finally, debris was thoroughly cleared from the property. All cut branches, removed plant material, and leftover yard waste were hauled away so the space was left tidy and ready to enjoy.
The combined result of the erosion barrier, stone border, landscaping paper with bark mulch, pruning, herbicide application, and hosta relocation is a more stable and attractive landscape in Munhall, PA. D & L Landscaping and Exterior Cleaning completed the project with an emphasis on practical improvements that reduce maintenance and protect the yard from erosion. Homeowners will notice cleaner beds, fewer weeds, and better-defined planting areas following this work.
